Feather & Noise celebrating women

April 19, 2018

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I was pretty chuffed, excited, flattered to be asked to be part of last week’s Feather and Noise shoot. This shoot was designed for two reasons. Firstly, to launch their new ‘Denim for Days’ campaign, and also to celebrate the diversity of their brand in #celebratingyoubyF&N.

Feather and Noise Denim for Days

Being a Mum, my body shape has changed loads over the past decade. I’m someone who is relatively small up top, with next to no boobs. However by hips are much larger and I’ve always struggled to feel comfortable in pants and / or outfits that do not cater to real curves or shape. Last week, Ali from Feather and Noise brought to together 14 women, to show the world how her brand caters for every woman. Tall, short, slim, and curvy. Hips, no hips, big busted, small busted, breast feeding, no kids, kids, old, young. Women who are plus sized models. Women who are Mums. Women who are business owners. Women who lift each other up. Celebrate positivity.

Many of the girls that I was luck enough to work with on the day were women whom I have known for a long time online, but have never actually met in real life. Kind of like tinder for insta pals. It was a ‘meet up’ filled with such fantastic energy, because everyone was included. No matter what. Everyone had earned their seat at the table in their own unique way.

Here are some of my favourites from the day…

I often find it comfortable to share my ‘blogger’ self online, but squirm and get embarrassed talking about it in real life, face to face. Not because I’m embarrassed in any way about what I do, but because of the reactions that you sometimes get from people who have misconceptions or preconceptions about the world of social media. Not on this day though. It was a true even playing field. Complete empathy and understanding of the hard work they everyone puts into their creative outlets. Whether a blog, a website or a business. Everyone in that room puts their heart and soul into what they do, and it showed.

I’ve been a long term fan of F&N, way before doing any collaborative work with them. Being a Mum and a teacher, I’ve always sought stylish clothes that are great quality and area affordable. I genuinely love this brand from head to toe, and have never been asked to write this, or am being paid to share this in any way. It’s just a really cool brand.

The woman behind the brand

FEATHER & NOISE was born in early 2013 by Alison Long, however the idea had been brewing for many years before.  Alison has more than 13 years’ experience in retail as a Visual Merchandiser, Ladies Buyer and Senior Sales Rep.  She decided it was time to gather up all her years of passion, experience, dedication and extensive knowledge of fashion, and bring her beloved drive for selling and styling to a wider range of other likeminded people.  After her official first year out of the Fashion Industry with a new job description as a ‘Stay at Home Mum’ and with maternity leave quickly coming to an end, it was time to make F&N a reality and bring some of the most stylish and affordable trends to the market place.

Alison loves to wear denim, stripes, basic tees and would describe herself as a jeans girl, but always mad for a great shirt, usually layered & worn open.  “Be it chambray, check or a crisp white, I love a good collar over my casual jeans & tee style.”  With a fast-paced business, a phone that never stops and two children under 3 years, Alison must be ready within five minutes. “Time is everything and choosing what to wear has to happen quickly!”

This is the motto & inspiration behind many of F&N styles; practical, easy, staple, timeless pieces.  Often with a twist such as a great print, a stripe, a touch of leather or leopard and always a good elastic waist for all the stylish Mums, both pre and post pregnancy.  “I’ve been there twice & I know how important a great stylish elastic waist pant is for any new Mum!”  As our lives get busier and busier, we aim provide convenience to the time poor, and make shopping easier, simpler and hassle free.

“I just wanted an outlet to style, share and sell all the gorgeous trends that I love to wear.  If I can help make others as happy as I am when I wear an F&N style, then that brings so much joy to me!”

Put together by the amazing F&N team and shot by the uber beautiful Leah Ladson and Bianca Virtue, the #denimfordays edit is now live on their webstore, Instagram and Facebook channels.

So if you need jeans, no matter what your body type….F&N is the place to go.
