Product Review: Leapfrog Ultimate Tablet

July 27, 2018
Leapfrog Ultimate

You’ll know that I’m a teacher, and a Mum. I’m passionate about exploring how technology can enhance student learning, so when I was asked to try the new ‘Leapfrog Ultimate Tablet’, I was very curious! The world of tablets can divide parents. Many are afraid to let their children get their hands on them, but they are also aware of the great learning benefits they can provide if used in the right way. In the month we’ve used the Leapfrog  Ultimate Tablet, I would describe it as a stepping stone, or L plates for those who want to ensure that they have complete control over a device for their young child. Set up with pre-loaded content, it allows your child to both make choices about the activities they complete, but is completely locked down by parents so they cannot explore anything you don’t want them to!

My children have loved taking photos and videos, exploring the alphabet, counting, science activities, gardening videos, creating artworks and much more. The clever stylus (pen) develops accurate pencil grip, rather than using their finger to point at the screen. It’s also really robust and can whit stand a few bumps along the way!

Leapfrog Ultimate

This is the ultimate first tablet for kids, bundled with a carry case that’s also kid-tough!  Kid-safe right out of the box with preloaded content focussed on core skills in maths, reading and science, as well as music, puzzles, logic and creativity, the LeapPad Ultimate helps prepare kids for preschool and beyond.  This tablet is kid-smart. Built with a fast, powerful quad-core processor for lightning-fast fun, the LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate tablet can access up to 1000+ learning games, videos, eBooks and more – all designed or approved by LeapFrog® educators (software sold separately).   The Just for Me™ personalised learning technology selects games, remembers curricular progress and automatically adjusts learning levels for different profiles.   LeapSearch, the kid-safe web provides access only to kid-appropriate content approved by LeapFrog® learning experts.

And for the parents, password protection allows you to add multiple kids to one tablet as well as manage their play experience.  And kids can play offline, too… with a cartridge slot and theLeapFrog library of award-winning games.  Sold separately, LeapFrog cartridge games offer a large educational curriculum featuring kids’ favourite characters.

The LeapPad Ultimate Carrying Case is a kid-tough, zippered case that snugly holds your LeapPad and games. It’s designed to travel with you easily and features a tote-safe wrist-strap.

For children from three to nine years, the LeapPad Ultimate and Carry Case Bundle is available from June from Big W, good toy stores and online retailers in green and pink. RRP $199.95ea.

LeapPad Games/Software – Peppa Pig Read and Play with Peppa Learning Game

Little Peppa Pig fans will just love the learning fun with the new Peppa Pig Read & Play with Peppa Learning Game. Help Peppa and George play entertaining games as they tidy up the house together! You can also read about Peppa’s fancy dress party and find out who wins the prize for the best outfit!  All the while loving the learning of reading comprehension, the alphabet, vocabulary, and problem solving.

For children from three to five years, the Peppa Pig Read and Play with Peppa Learning Game is available now from Big W, good toy stores and online retailers for RRP $34.95

Best of all, we are giving away, to one luck follower a
