Day 7: Christmas Unisex Gift Guide: My Pen Pals writing and maths kits

November 24, 2018
My Pen Pals

In keeping with my educational theme of the last few days, today’s feature is very close to my teaching heart. My Pen Pals is a fun and exciting way to help children learn basic writing skills. These important kits are a great way for parents to find a balance for their children between using screens and engaging in more educational activities like My Pen Pals.

There are different kits for different skill levels, including Pre-Writing which focuses on pencil control the Maths Kit which includes shapes and numbers and the Writing Kit. Each 20 page kit is fully reusable thanks to the dry-erase pockets and they are all personalised with your child’s name.

My Pen Pals

My Pen Pals provide colourful markers and a fantastic drawstring carry backpack to make them easy to carry and store away.

The quality of the kits is exceptional. Each kit comes with a rang of activities in beautiful clear plastic pockets. You can write and wipe, do it over and over again. The ring binder means you can also take a activity sheet out of the booklet if needed.

This is the perfect gift for any boy or girl. There are three kits available for children at kinder or prep schooling age:

PRE-WRITING KIT

The Pre-Writing Kit helps to develop fundamental pre-writing skills, which children need before they can write letters, numbers and words. Pattern writing helps with specific strokes that are present in all letters and numbers.

Their pre-writing kit provides the opportunity for children to practice pattern writing through copying and tracing, which will give them the confidence and ability to write letters and numbers correctly. They learn to write across the page from left to right, while developing their fine motor skills and being introduced to their name.

WRITING KIT

The Writing Kit helps further develop your child’s pre-writing skills and their name recognition and writing. The alphabet is introduced and children have the opportunity to write both lower and upper case letters. Correct letter formation and direction is clearly shown through the use of arrows.

The Pen Pals are present on every page helping your child feel good about their learning, giving clear instructions on what to do!

MATHS KIT
We all need to develop numeracy concepts to help us solve problems, make choices, notice and understand patterns and make sense of information. Children who begin developing number sense before starting school usually possess greater critical thinking skills than those with little or no number knowledge. Giving your child the opportunity to get a head-start with numeracy is one of the best things you can do for their future success when they reach school.

The 20 page Maths Kit firstly introduces your child to simple and more complex shapes and provides activities to develop their knowledge of colours and patterns.

Next the children are provided the opportunity to count, colour, trace and write the numbers from 1-10.

What I love most about these kits is the fact that they are personalised for each child. Seeing their name, and learning about their name’s letters is fantastic to help keep them motivated. They are usable over and over again and the quality is just beautiful. Bright, bold and beautiful, they are perfect for any child who is transitioning to kinder or school!
